The Architect

About Steve Cerilli

Steve Cerilli is a world-class event producer and the founder of Shortwave Recording Company / SRC Incorporated — a full-service event production and management firm based in Newport, Rhode Island, serving Southern New England and the islands and beyond. For over two decades, Steve has been the invisible architect behind world-class private and corporate events, orchestrating every signal, beam and beat so each moment lands flawlessly.

A single accountable team under one roof, Steve's practice unites six disciplines — talent buying, audio services, backline, lighting design, artist relations and logistics — engineered to the standard of a world-class event. From intimate gatherings to flagship productions of 2,000-plus guests, SRC Incorporated applies the discipline of global touring to events of every scale: NDA-bound, white-glove handling for high-net-worth clients and sensitive corporate moments, with 360-plus productions delivered, 24/7 show-advance support, and zero detail left to chance.

At the center of Newport's private event and party circuit is the Honky Tonk Knights — the band Steve Cerilli leads as bandleader. A fixture on the Newport, Rhode Island scene for over sixteen years, the HTK have performed at world-class sailing regattas, welcome parties, corporate events and weddings throughout Southern New England and the Islands. The HTK sound is a mix of vintage country-rock and Stones-inspired classics from the Bakersfield branch of the genre, layered with bluegrass and California vibes. All HTK events are advanced and managed by locally renowned songwriter and event producer Steve Cerilli, and the band runs a vertically integrated approach — professional sound and lighting teams all under the direction of the bandleader — for consistently flawless execution and delivery.

Newport event production is the core of the practice. Steve's selected clients, venues and production partners read like a who's-who of the Rhode Island coast — Fort Adams Trust, the New York Yacht Club, the Redwood Library, the Newport Folk Festival and Newport Jazz Festival (Foundation Stage), America's Cup Newport, the Ocean Race, the Safe Harbor Regatta, the Newport to Bermuda Race and the IYRS Annual Classic Yacht Regatta — alongside the region's leading planners for premier weddings.

Steve's audio foundation runs deep. With twenty-one years in audio post-production and production sound, his sound design and mix engineering spans film, television, documentary, commercial and branded-content work — capturing clean, expressive dialogue and building immersive sonic worlds in post. Selected credits include The Real McCoy (2012), an Emmy Award–winning documentary, and the Radioactive Sound Effects Library released by Sound Ideas. His location sound kit — Sound Devices 664 and 552 mixers, a Sennheiser MKH 60 shotgun, a Schoeps MK 41 hypercardioid, and Countryman B6/B3 lavaliers — is informed by a post-production perspective that records every set with the edit and final mix in mind.

Backed by official endorsements from the industry's most trusted manufacturers — Sennheiser, Telefunken, Audix, ElectroVoice, Mesa Boogie, Fishman, AER, Gibson and Hosa among them — Steve's technical assets are factory-serviced, software-current and tour-ready. During the winter months he resides in Samara, Costa Rica, performing solo with weekly shows in Nosara, with a relationship at Harmony Recording Studio for vocal overdubs, song-sketch demo recording and audiobook recording.

Available for location sound, post-production, the Honky Tonk Knights and complete event production regionally and beyond, Steve Cerilli and Shortwave Recording Company deliver world-class experiences where precision is the product.
